Nestled on 132 acres of serene prairie land just 30 minutes east of Winnipeg, Painted Horse Ranch offers a unique opportunity to connect with the land, horses, and Indigenous culture. We are dedicated to providing transformative experiences through Anishinaabe Land Based Learning, Indigenized Equine Assisted Learning, and Indigenous Awareness Training.

Meet Jake Shingoose, a proud member of Waywayseecappo First Nation and the driving force behind Painted Horse Ranch. Raised on his family's ranch in Waywayseecappo, Jake's connection to horses runs deep. From a young age, he was immersed in the world of horsemanship, learning to train and care for these magnificent animals.​Driven by a desire to understand his heritage and contribute to his community, Jake pursued higher education, studying Native Studies and the Ojibwe language in University. His passion for helping others led him to work as a First Responder, supporting both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in crisis.​Now, Jake has returned to his roots, founding Painted Horse Ranch. This venture blends his lifelong passion for horses with his deep understanding of Anishinaabe culture and his commitment to healing and empowerment. Through the ranch, Jake shares his knowledge and experience, creating a space where individuals can connect with the land, the horses, and the wisdom of Indigenous traditions.

Introducing Harmony Lynxleg, a proud member of Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation, who brings a wealth of traditional knowledge and a passion for cultural sharing to Painted Horse Ranch.​Growing up in her community, Harmony was immersed in Anishinaabe and Cree traditions from a young age. She learned the intricate skills of crafting, and developed a deep respect for the land through traditional hunting, fishing, and trapping practices. Harmony's journey led her to pursue education and experience in child support and schooling, further enriching her understanding of individual needs and learning styles.​Now, Harmony is dedicated to sharing her vast knowledge and experience to keep the Anishinaabe culture thriving. At Painted Horse Ranch, she guides individuals on a journey of cultural discovery, helping them connect with the traditions, values, and wisdom of her ancestors. With a warm heart and a deep respect for her heritage, Harmony creates a welcoming space for learning and growth.
